Five WA Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Funding Opportunities You Need To Know About
Country holds our stories. Stories we are still rediscovering, like the tools and ceremonial stones uncovered in Murujuga Sea Country and rock art on Martu Country. Protecting our cultural heritage is an ongoing challenge that demands a lot of resources. People, time and technology.
To support our Aboriginal organisations protecting Country in Western Australia, we’ve shortlisted five grants that are currently open, or opening soon, that can fund our Mob in this vital work.
1. Preserve, Promote, Protect our Aboriginal Sites Program
Who’s this grant for?
Aboriginal Corporations and Not-For-Profit Aboriginal organisations that have a project or projects associated with Registered Sites or Lodged Places in the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Inquiry System.
Purpose
Your project should primarily include on-the-ground physical work/s that will protect or preserve your nominated Aboriginal site(s). These could be activities such as installing fences or signage, removing graffiti or site clean-ups.
How much funding is available?
Up to $50 000

2. Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBC) Capacity Building Grant Opportunity
Who’s this grant for?
Any Registered Native Title Body Corporate, Prescribed Body Corporate, Native Title Representative Body, Traditional Owner Corporation or a Traditional Owner Group Entity.
Purpose
Increase the capacity of PBCs and take advantage of economic opportunities, build long-term organisational capacity within PBCs through training and obtaining professional expertise and support effective native title agreement-making.
How much funding is available?

3. Collie Futures Small Grants Program
Who’s this grant for?
Businesses and Not-For-Profit organisations.
Purpose
For organisations looking to invest in Collie and support projects that provide an economic benefit to the Collie region (50 km radius from the Collie CBD).
How much funding is available?
Up to $100 000

4. Sponsorship for Heritage Event and Activity Organisers
Who’s this grant for?
An organisation, Not-For-Profit, local government or commercial entity operating an event or activity that meets one or more of the outcomes below.
Purpose
Supports a wide variety of activities, but primarily for work/s that will be open to the public. Awareness of a site or place, a project that could deliver economic return, or educates, or encourages tourism.
How much funding is available?
$10 000 - $20 000

5. Future Industries Grant Program
Who’s this grant for?
Indigenous Corporations
Purpose
Supports Indigenous businesses to develop income streams on Country with particular focus on the following sectors; carbon, renewables and clean energy, environmental markets, inland water, fisheries and aquaculture.
How much funding is available?
Up to $50 000
Deadline
This grant has just been piloted. Applications are currently closed, but will reopen should the pilot be deemed successful.
